In the early 1900's, a salesman...
called on steel magnet Andrew Carnegie, the richest man in the history of the world, at the time.
The salesman offered Andrew Carnegie a method to make better steel. Carnegie said, “I already make the finest steel I the world, I don’t need to improve it. What I need is a system to be more personally productive.”

The salesman, Ivy Lee, said, "I’ll share with you my system to use for 30 days. After which, please send me a check for what you think its worth." Carnegie agreed.

After 30 days, sharing this system with all the key members of his staff, Carnegie sent Mr. Lee a check for $25,000.00 dollars. Keep in mind, a highly skilled worker earned $5.00 per day at the time. In today’s dollars, that would be about $400,000.00.

Here’s what Mr. Lee shared with the richest man in the history of the world.
1.   At the end of each work day, write down the six most important things you need to accomplish tomorrow. Do not write down more than six tasks.

2.   Prioritize those six items in order of their true importance.

3.   When you arrive tomorrow, concentrate only on the first task. Work until the first task is finished before moving on to the second task.

4.   Approach the rest of your list in the same fashion. At the end of the day, move any unfinished items to a new list of six tasks for the following day.

5.   Repeat this process every working day.

Sharing a copy of this with all your key people will, if applied, cause a significant increase in their individual personal productivity. Today, this same system is used by some of the wealthiest and most productive people in the world.
