Health Benefits of Figs
Figs are a highly prized and nourishing fruit that have been used to treat nearly every known disease since ancient times. They can provide phenomenal amounts of energy and vitality to the body as well as aid in the repair and restoration of the digestive, cardiovascular, lymphatic, reproductive, muscular, immune, and skeletal system. Figs are one of the most alkaline fruits available and are rich in minerals such as calcium, iron, copper, potassium, selenium, and zinc. In fact, figs are one the highest sources of readily assimilable calcium in the plant world which makes them a great choice to help prevent osteoporosis and their potassium content can help to prevent hypertension as well. Figs have the ability to bind to acids in the body that accumulate as fat globules and flush them from the body making them a good addition to any weight loss program. They also work as an excellent laxative and their high mucin content help to eliminate toxic wastes and mucus from the colon. Similarly, they also also very beneficial for people who suffer from asthma as they can help to drain phlegm from the body. Figs have the ability to kill off bad bacteria while promoting the buildup of good bacteria such as acidophilus in the bowel. Figs contain chlorogenic acid which can help lower blood sugar levels and control blood glucose levels in Type 2 Diabetes. There are hundreds varieties of figs, but some of the more common ones found in supermarkets include Black Mission, Kadota, Brown Turkey, and Calimyrna. Fresh figs are a decadent treat when in season, but when fresh figs are not available, try soaking some dried figs in water for a few hours and blend into a sweet and creamy fig pudding or add to a smoothie for a flavor and nutritional boost. Snack on fresh or dried figs for a powerhouse of nutrition and energy that can help your body function optimally all day long.
An Online Dating Expert Shares 8 Tips To Vastly Improve Your Profile
(BusinessInsider.com) Online dating can be tough. With thousands of profiles scattered across a bunch of different platforms, you've got to stand out to be successful. That's why Lisa Hoehn started Profile Polish, a one-woman business that makes over online dating profiles to attract more matches. Hoehn had had plenty of experience with online dating and had helped friends redo their profiles in the past. It wasn't until after a bad breakup, however, that she realized redoing profiles was something she could be doing professionally. "My friend came over, and I was looking at her profile thinking, 'Well if my love life sucks, I may as well get yours in order,'" Hoehn said to Business Insider. "I woke up the next morning and had this kind of epiphany moment. People needed someone to do this for them." Profile Polish's services and prices vary depending on what each client needs. For $48, Hoehn will select photos, edit them, and help a client understand what works and what doesn't. A solid copy edit and photo makeover costs $98, while a more in-depth package costs $198. Since launching Profile Polish a year ago, Hoehn's business has increased rapidly, and she now gets between 10 and 15 requests a week. The vast majority of her requests come from men, and they tend to be on major platforms like OkCupid and Match.com. She's also worked with JDate, How About We..., and PlentyOfFish, and she even has a special, photos-only package for people on Tinder. Business Insider caught up with Hoehn to get some of her profile makeover tips. (Learn More)

Earthing: The Benefits of Connecting with Earth’s Energy
(TheMindUnleashed) Ever feel the urge to walk barefoot on the beach or feel the grass between your toes? As it turns out, this urge goes much deeper than simply feeling good. It has been repeatedly demonstrated that there is a significant electrical interaction between the Earth and each one of us. Earth, as it turns out, is not neutrally charged as was originally believed – it has a negative charge. This means that is has an abundance of electrons. This charge does not interact with us too often since we live in insulated buildings and wear insulated footwear. In other words, we rarely touch the ground! Why does touching the ground matter? Humans evolved, like all animals, walking on the ground without insulating barriers between the Earth and our feet. It is common knowledge that the soles of our feet are extremely sensitive due to a high concentration of nerve endings. Since nerve tissue is electrically conductive, it is easy to understand that the bottoms of our feet are highly conductive surfaces. (Learn More)
