The story of WHY people thought Jim Zuk was so brilliant (and how he did it).
My friend Jim traveled the world as an energy consumption expert for major industries. He would arrive on Monday, go by and say hello to the high level decision makers, and then, go study how the factory was currently using energy. He talked to everyone, regardless of how low they were on the payroll. Jim asked for their input and wrote down their energy saving ideas. On Thursday night he'd go back to his hotel room and begin writing his report. When he took it to management on Friday morning, management was blown away at how well he understood the details of their operations and the brilliant specific recommendations he had made. The client's bill was 20% of the annual energy savings. They gladly paid big money for Jim's amazing services. What was his secret? He asked the employees for their suggestions. Jim told me, talking to the employees is the last place management ever goes for input. These are the people who really know what's going on. They're on the front lines of reality and have the best understanding of how to solve the little problems before they become big problems.
